Guide Dogs Queensland has a newly created opportunity to join our client services team as a Graduate Orientation and Mobility Specialist. This is a full-time opportunity based at our head office in Bald Hills.

Our mission is to deliver O&M services to blind & vision impaired adults and children throughout communities in Queensland. Our O&M Specialists work across a multidisciplinary team working to enrich the lives of Queenslanders with no or low vision.

About You

Your professional input will complement existing services to provide a holistic approach in enabling clients to participate independently, confidently and safely in daily life.

You will be committed to a person-centred approach to working with people with low or no vision and bring excellence, enthusiasm and experience to the role. Your ability to strike rapid rapport and build trust with our clients, your colleagues and management is also key to being a success.

To be successful in this role you will also:

  • Be working towards Certification with Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals (ACVREP);
  • Have a developing knowledge of Orientation and Mobility and associated equipment and technology within the scope of the profession;
  • Have the ability to work independently but also obtain supervision, support and debriefing as required;
  • Show great communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse groups of people;
  • Have a current drivers licence.

This position requires regular travel within an allocated region on an operational basis.
