The role

Guide Dogs Queensland is seeking a dedicated professional to join our dynamic Major Gifts and Foundations team as a Major Gifts Advisor. This pivotal role offers you the chance to make a profound impact on our community engagement and fundraising efforts.

While the role is based in Brisbane, we are open to considering candidates from anywhere within the state if they are the right fit for the position. Reporting to the Philanthropy Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving our fundraising initiatives. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver budget objectives related to individual major donors statewide. You’ll be responsible for prospect research, cultivating relationships with high net-worth individuals, and securing crucial operational funding needed to advance our mission.

About you

Our successful Major Gifts Advisor will demonstrate the following:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Major Gifts or similar program environment.
  • Undergraduate or post-graduate qualification in fundraising, marketing, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport in diverse settings.
  • High emotional intelligence, with demonstrated ability to deal with people in a sensitive, sympathetic, and confidential manner.
  • Strong understanding of major donor program fundamentals, including prospect research, moves management and portfolio design.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Resilience and flexibility, including willingness to travel interstate as needed.
  • Proficiency across Microsoft Suite applications (Excel, Word, and CRM).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, ambiguous environment.
  • Current Open Driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
  • Candidates who are a member of the Fundraising Institute of Australia will be highly regarded.
