The role

Guide Dogs Queensland is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Grounds and Maintenance Officer to join our Assets Team at our Breeding and Training Centre, located in Bald Hills.

Working in a small team, this role is responsible for assisting with care and maintenance of our campus, performing on-site maintenance activities to ensure our buildings, motor vehicles, and grounds remain in clean, safe, and operating condition.

We are seeking a team player who can support with the following duties:  

  • Cut and trim hedges and trees.
  • Water pressure cleaning of pathways and buildings.
  • General tidying and maintenance of buildings and grounds, including weeding gardens and painting.
  • Assist with driving GDQ fleet vehicles for service and maintenance activities and perform car detailing when required.
  • Assisting with event set up and take down.
  • Operate equipment such as ride on mowers, brush cutter and leaf blower.
  • Ensure that all machinery and tools used in daily activities are maintained in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and that it is regularly cleaned.

This position falls under the Miscellaneous Award (2020). 

About You

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work independently and in a team, and be self-driven, focused and have pride and passion for their work.

An open driver’s licence and grounds keeping experience are essential. Applicants are also required to have an up-to-date tetanus vaccination or willingness to obtain.

Applicants with a trade or maintenance background will be highly regarded.
